So how exactly did Macabre Mom come to be? What is the purpose? It’s a great question that I don’t exactly have the answer to. I’ve always had a fondness of the dark, but I have to exist in a world where there must be balance. I have small children; they have nightmares over the smallest scares.

I felt the need to seek out others who felt the same. Halloween is not a holiday as much as it is a lifestyle; I could cancel Christmas and not miss one jingle bell or giant, inflatable snowman. But once again…I am a mother, a single mother. But I have an identity, a purpose beyond that role.
The Quad Cities: where I call home. As this site develops, I will be taking time to uncover people and places that fill the need to enjoy the spookier side of life. The haunted places, the creative talents behind Halloween events, the things we choose as our hobbies/livelihood that others may consider unusual.
This small introductory blog is just a warm up. Much more will be coming. But I have a horrible habit of existing on very little sleep.
Thank you- The Macabre Mom
